The star has revealed that she no longer feels fitting to comment publicly against the Trump presidency, concerned it could worsen unhelpful debate and increase separation across the United States.

In a recent interview, she commented, “When Trump was first in office, I believed I was acting frantically like a chicken with my head cut off. But it’s become clear, through repeated campaigns, public figures do not make a difference at all on voter decisions.”

The actor went on, “What’s the point? I’m just expressing personal views on a matter that’s going to add fuel to a fire dividing the country apart.”

Lawrence has admitted freely about voting for both conservative and liberal presidential nominees over the years. Growing up with conservative Republicans in Kentucky, she cast her ballot for the Republican nominee in 2008 before joining the Democratic party and stating she realized during President Obama’s term that backing conservatives was opposing her own rights as a woman.

Several years ago, she remarked that a Trump victory could represent “the end of the world” and backed the Democratic candidate in the 2020 election. In the latest campaign, she gave her endorsement to the Democratic nominee, “because I think she’s an amazing candidate and I know that she will take all necessary steps to protect women’s health rights.”

Lawrence was aligned with numerous celebrities in her rejection of Trump as a candidate for re-election, but the limited influence stars have over the voting intentions was highlighted by Trump’s victory.

“Another four years seems distinct,” noted the actress about his leadership. “Because he stated his intentions. We understood his record for four years. He was transparent. And voters made that decision.”

Lawrence is currently promoting her new film, the filmmaker’s project in which she portrays a new mother who deals with her mental health in rural Montana. At a interview session for the project in Venice, the star addressed the conflict in Gaza: “I’m terrified. It’s devastating. What’s taking place is equivalent to a humanitarian crisis and it’s terrible.”

She continued by saying that she was saddened by “the hostility in the conversations of U.S. political debates right now and how that is going to be normalised to the younger generation now. It’s going to be standard to them that leaders are untruthful.”

Lawrence aimed to shift anger about the issue to decision-makers rather than actors and artists. “Keep attention on who is responsible,” she advised, which was interpreted as a reference to the then-recent pledge signed by more than 4,000 Hollywood professionals to boycott specific industry bodies.
